Intrauterine contraception (IUC), despite its efficacy and cost effectiveness, remains underutilized in the U.S. Although most women initiate contraception with guidance from a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, some — particularly those with chronic health problems — may be more likely to seek contraceptive services from a primary-care provider.
