Patients with newly diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and high-intermediate or high risk International Prognostic Index (IPI) scores have poorer outcomes with standard immuno-chemotherapy induction than do those with lower-risk disease. To assess the efficacy of consolidation therapy with autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) during first remission, investigators conducted a phase III, multicenter trial involving patients aged 15 to 65 with IPI scores of 3 to 5. In addition to DLBCL patients, those with T-cell large cell lymphoma, follicular grade 3 lymphoma, and Burkitt or Burkitt-like lymphoma were also enrolled.
