Current guidelines recommend prolonged dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) for patients undergoing implantation of drug-eluting stents (DES). However, the optimal duration of DAPT for specific types of DES remains unclear.
To assess the clinical outcomes of 3 months (short term) versus 12 months (long term) of DAPT following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with zotarolimus-eluting stents, investigators conducted a manufacturer-sponsored, open-label, active-controlled, noninferiority trial.
