In several areas of medicine, including HIV/AIDS, rapid development of new drugs and increasing healthcare costs have led to the issuance of numerous treatment guidelines — and updates — which are derived using a variety of approaches. Relatively few studies have evaluated the effects of compliance with HIV/AIDS guidelines on outcomes, particularly survival.
