Given the growing recognition of genetic testing's importance, the demand for genetic counseling is rising. However, the number of trained genetics counselors is insufficient, especially in nonmetropolitan areas. To assess whether telephone counseling (TC) for BRCA 1/2 mutation carrier testing is noninferior to in-person counseling (usual care [UC]), investigators randomized 669 women (age range, 21–85 years) with ≥10% risk for carrying BRCA 1/2 mutations to TC or UC.
