Surveillance of Polypectomy Scars After Piecemeal Colon Polyp Resection

Previous studies suggest that during follow-up of patients at 3 to 6 months after piecemeal removal of large sessile colorectal polyps, biopsies of normal-appearing polypectomy scars sometimes reveal evidence of recurrence.

In the current large, prospective study, researchers further evaluated postpolypectomy sites for residual neoplasia in 243 consecutive patients with 252 adenomas >20 mm in size. Patients underwent systematic follow-up at 3 to 6 months and then at 12 months after initial endoscopic resection.
