An interferon-free regimen for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 is a near reality. Phase II trial results have shown promise. Now, investigators report the final results of three phase III studies evaluating the efficacy of a co-formulated pill of ABT-450/r-ombitasvir (a ritonavir-boosted protease inhibitor plus an NS5A inhibitor; once daily) plus dasabuvir (a nonnucleoside polymerase inhibitor; 250 mg twice daily) and ribavirin (1000–1200 mg once daily).
