Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) are recommended for many patients with reduced left ventricular ejection fractions. Cardiac resynchronization therapy with an ICD (CRT-D), involving placement of an additional lead in the coronary sinus, is recommended for ICD-eligible patients with heart failure (HF) and electrocardiographic evidence of ventricular dyssynchrony (QRS prolongation).
