In a retrospective cohort study, investigators evaluated the outpatient course and predictors of subsequent admission among children with bronchiolitis who were discharged from a Denver pediatric emergency department on home oxygen therapy during a 7-year period. Children were eligible for outpatient management if they met the following criteria: otherwise healthy, 2 to 24 months of age, first episode of bronchiolitis, and maintained oxygen saturation >90% on ≤0.5 L/minute of supplemental oxygen by nasal cannula.
