Livedoid vasculopathy is considered to be a noninflammatory disorder characterized by small painful ulcers on the legs that heal with stellate scars. Various prothrombotic factors have been identified in these patients, some of which are acquired and some of which are inherited. Treatments have generally consisted of agents that affect coagulation.
These authors report a retrospective analysis of 24 Chinese patients seen over a 14-year period. They excluded patients with antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, vasculitis, and drug-induced disease. Some patients were tested for anticardiolipin antibodies and beta-2-glycoprotein-1 antibodies, and some were skin tested with “anaphylactogen” antigen.
