Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. However, short-term outcomes and risk factors for poor outcomes in DILI are not well understood.
Using data from the Drug-Induced Liver Injury Network's prospective registry study of patients with suspected DILI, researchers assessed 6-month outcomes of death, liver transplantation, and chronic DILI, and their associated risk factors in patients with DILI.
Of 660 patients (median age, 51.4 years; 41% men), 59% required hospitalization, 30 patients (4.5%) received liver transplants, 32 (4.8%) died, and 113 (18.9%) met criteria for persistent liver damage.
