Putting POEM into Practice

Highlights from the NOSCAR white paper on POEM

Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) is an exciting innovation for treatment of achalasia. Although clinical data show strong safety and efficacy, they are largely from expert centers.

Authors of a recent white paper summarized current information from research studies, an international survey of early POEM adopters, and conference proceedings on the use, safety, and efficacy of POEM as well as recommendations for training and incorporating POEM into clinical practice.
