Background and Objective

Recommendations for vaccination to prevent influenza change annually. These guidelines update suggestions for 2013–2014 and emphasize childhood immunization and the availability of several different formulations.

Key Points and Recommendations

The antigenic components of the seasonal vaccines remain the same as last season. The trivalent vaccine represents two strains of influenza A virus and one strain of influenza B virus; the quadrivalent vaccine has two A and two B strains.
