This systematic review was performed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of midodrine in patients with symptomatic orthostatic hypotension (SOH) — defined as a fall in systolic blood pressure of at least 20 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure of at least 10 mm Hg within 3 minutes upon standing — and recurrent reflex syncope (RRS). To identify trials of patients with SOH or RRS that compared treatment with midodrine against controls, researchers performed a search of multiple electronic databases without language restriction from the databases' inception to June 2013.
