Physicians in Northwest Spain have been collecting data and publishing observational reports on patients with cutaneous vasculitis for more than 30 years. Drug-related cutaneous vasculitis is a known entity. However, the drugs most often associated with this reaction are antibiotics, which are usually prescribed for infections that could also cause the vasculitis.
These authors retrospectively studied records of 239 patients with suspected drug-related cutaneous vasculitis. Antibiotics, primarily β-lactam agents, had been used by 62.3% of patients and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs by 10%.
