The use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is widespread in the general population. In some pharmacologic studies, NSAIDs can interfere with the antiplatelet effects of aspirin and potentially blunt the vascular protection offered by aspirin. Whether NSAID use prior to a stroke affects stroke mortality is unclear.
These authors evaluated 100,043 incident strokes registered in Denmark during a 9-year period.
