The AGA has issued a new guideline on efficacy of drug treatment in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). For each individual drug or class of drugs, reviewers indicated the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) scores for the strength of the recommendation and the quality of evidence.
For IBS-constipation, the following agents are recommended as effective: linaclotide, lubiprostone, and laxatives.
