Adjuvant therapy improves survival after curative resection in gastric cancer patients. Although U.S. practice combines postoperative chemotherapy and radiation therapy, trial data from Europe and Asia support the use of pre- and postoperative chemotherapy without radiation. Guidelines from the U.S. National Comprehensive Cancer Network support all of these practices, depending on the adequacy of surgical resection performed (≤D2).
