This change typically requires switching from pediatric to adult healthcare providers, yet the modern healthcare system is not designed to ensure a consistent and timely transition. Women aged 18 to 26 may need access to a broad range of women's health services, including general medical care, mental health counseling and treatment for depression or anxiety, addiction counseling and treatment for use of nicotine, alcohol, and opioids or other drugs, preconception counseling, contraceptive services, and sexual health counseling.
