The 22nd Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) was held last week in Seattle, the home of Boeing, superb coffee, and happy hipsters. In HIV and ID Observations, Dr. Paul Sax reviews highlights of the 2015 meeting, including studies on prevention (e.g., pre-exposure prophylaxis with TDF/FTC), treatment (early antiretroviral therapy, early 6-month isoniazid preventive therapy), complications (risk for chronic kidney disease with tenofovir — and even more so with atazanavir), and cure (zinc finger nuclease approach to modifying CD4 cells), as well as some miscellaneous “cool stuff” (which you'll have to see for yourself).
