Spindle cell morphology is seen in tumors of different origin. Additional tests, such as immunohistochemical stains, are essential to define the origin of these tumors and correctly classify them. On rare occasions, lymphomas arising from B- or T-cell lymphocytes acquire this morphology. The first described case was an anaplastic large cell lymphoma designated as “sarcomatoid.”
In this largest retrospective study of 24 cutaneous spindle-cell B-cell lymphomas (cSCBCL), tumors were three times more frequent in males, and mean age was 55 years.
