Follicular mycosis fungoides (FMF) is a recognized variant of MF affecting, predominantly, the head and neck. The extent and degree of follicular involvement of lymphoma can affect development of follicular-based lesions like alopecia, acneiform lesions, comedones, cysts, and plaques. Numerous distinct clinical variants and subtle histologic findings can make early detection challenging.
These authors retrospectively studied eight patients (5 male; mean age, 55.4 years) diagnosed in Italian and Swiss dermatology departments to characterize early-stage FMF.
