Although sofosbuvir (SOF)-based regimens are extremely effective in the treatment of hepatitis C (HCV) infection, a few patients do not achieve sustained virologic response (SVR). Already FDA-approved for treatment of genotype 1 infection, the once-daily single-tablet regimen of ledipasvir (LDV) plus SOF may be effective in such patients. In a manufacturer-sponsored, open-label, multicenter trial, researchers evaluated the efficacy of LDV/SOF plus ribavirin (RBV) in patients with genotype 1 HCV infection who had experienced treatment failure in phase I or II clinical trials evaluating SOF-based regimens.
