In the general population, as many as 0.3% develop endometrial cancer, but among women with Lynch syndrome, between 15% and 30% are estimated to develop the disease by age 70. Because of this excess risk, screening and prevention guidelines recommend that women with Lynch syndrome have a total abdominal hysterectomy after childbearing is complete.
