The intestinal microbiome is increasingly implicated in influencing intraintestinal and extraintestinal diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, and even some psychiatric diseases. Previous studies have suggested that disruption of the microbiome may be associated with the development of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
