E-cigarettes can be modified to vaporize liquid hash oil, wax infused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), or dried buds and leaves. Investigators conducted an anonymous survey about e-cigarette and cannabis use among 3800 students (52% female; mean age, 16 years) from five high schools in Connecticut.
Overall, 5.4% of students reported using e-cigarettes to vaporize cannabis. This included 18.0% of lifetime e-cigarette users, 18.4% of lifetime cannabis users, and 26.5% of lifetime users of both e-cigarettes and cannabis. The forms of cannabis used were dried leaves (20%–30% of users), THC wax (10%–15%), and hash oil (15%–23%).
