Lichen planus, an inflammatory disorder with an estimated prevalence of approximately 1%, involves skin and mucous membranes (e.g., vagina, vulva, oral, ear canal, esophagus, and lacrimal duct). Erosive vulvovaginal lichen planus (EVLP) is a chronic genital dermatitis that is challenging to diagnose and treat. A recent international electronic-Delphi exercise with feedback process proposed a set of nine criteria including signs, symptoms, and pathologic findings to support a diagnosis of EVLP ().
