The Lancet has published a series of five articles and three commentaries to coincide with the first World Antibiotic Awareness Week (November 16–22, 2015). Various authors consider the problem of access to as well as resistance to antibiotics. The series highlights the need to integrate our approaches to human and animal health and to environmental aspects, via the One Health initiative. The series aims to frame the major issues and to help guide organizations, governments, and institutions to develop coordinated, effective interventions.
