The Glasgow Blatchford Score (GBS) is one of several scoring systems used to stratify risk in patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (AUGIB). Most studies of these scores have evaluated inpatient outcomes. To determine the ability of the GBS to predict postdischarge outcomes, investigators prospectively assessed outcomes in 309 hospital patients referred with AUGIB (as the cause of admission or occurring after admission). They compared the rates of postdischarge 30-day rebleeding, all-cause readmission, and mortality between patients with high (>7) versus low (≤7) GBS scores.
