Small studies have reported surprising variability in postprandial blood sugar levels following the same meal. An Israeli team studied this interesting result in 800 adults (age range, 18–70; 76% overweight or obese) without diagnosed diabetes in a 1-week study.
The first meal of each day was provided by the study: All participants ate the same standardized meal. Participants used a smartphone app to document all additional meals by logging and photographing the food and to record physical activity, sleep, and other lifestyle behaviors.
