ColoWrap is an abdominal binder designed to supply external abdominal pressure and prevent looping during colonoscopy.
To assess the efficacy of ColoWrap in reducing time to cecal intubation, investigators randomized 350 outpatients to colonoscopy with ColoWrap or a sham control device.
Cecal intubation times were similar in the ColoWrap and control groups (6.67 and 6.69 minutes, respectively). The frequency of manual pressure use during the procedure was slightly higher in controls than with ColoWrap (45% and 37%), as was frequency of position change (4% and 2%), but neither difference was significant.
