Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is approved for high-risk surgical patients and is under investigation for lower-risk candidates. Using data from the American College of Cardiology/Society of Thoracic Surgeons Transcatheter Valve Therapy (TVT) Registry covering >13,000 patients undergoing TAVR in the U.S., investigators designed and tested a risk model to predict in-hospital mortality, with the goal that clinicians could use the model to improve patient-centric care.
