Dutch investigators assessed factors associated with reduced cognitive performance in participants enrolled in the AGEhIV study, a prospective cohort of 103 HIV-infected persons and 74 HIV-uninfected persons, all aged ≥45 years. All study participants were men, mostly men who have sex with men; median age was 54 years. HIV-infected study participants had sustained HIV suppression for at least 12 months. Individuals with known central nervous system abnormalities, excessive alcohol or drug use, or severe psychiatric disorders were excluded.
