Mammographically detected breast arterial calcification (BAC) correlates with coronary artery disease (CAD) and coronary artery calcium (CAC). To quantify how well BAC (as determined with digital mammography) correlates with CAC (determined with computed tomography [CT]) and 10-year Framingham Risk Scores (FRSs) as well as the 2013 Cholesterol Guidelines Pooled Cohort Equations (PCEs), investigators at a single U.S. center identified women who had undergone digital mammography and nongated chest CT (performed for indications other than CAC assessment).
