Assisted reproductive technology (ART) births are associated with maternal morbidities such as antepartum hemorrhage and preterm birth — and maternal hospitalization is an important indicator of these complications. In an analysis of indications for and rates of antepartum hospitalization (maternal hospitalization prior to delivery) for pregnancies conceived with and without ART, researchers studied 557,708 deliveries in Michigan from 2004 through 2012.
