Distribution of food products from single processing facilities has led to foodborne infectious outbreaks involving large numbers of people in the past several decades. During June and July 2015, 22 clusters of gastroenteritis caused by one Salmonella serotype were investigated by the Seattle/King County and Washington State public health departments. Although this is the fifth most common offending serotype in the U.S., it has been uncommon in Washington State.
