Desmopressin is an effective treatment for childhood enuresis; however, the preferred method of discontinuation after successful therapy is uncertain.
In a systematic review, researchers identified 601 studies related to efficacy of desmopressin for pediatric enuresis but found only 4 randomized, controlled trials (including 500 patients total) with adequate methodological rigor and data on withdrawal strategies. They conducted a meta-analysis of these trials to compare the efficacy of structured versus abrupt withdrawal of desmopressin following successful therapy for enuresis.
