A quadrivalent meningococcal vaccine against serogroups A, C, Y and W-135 is now being given to U.S. adolescents. However, concerns have remained regarding disease due to serogroup B meningococcal strains, for which vaccine development has been difficult. In 2015, two vaccines targeting serogroup B strains were approved by the FDA. Researchers now report the results of a prelicensure trial of one of these, the 4CMenB vaccine, to protect students at a university experiencing an outbreak of a serogroup B meningococcal disease.
