Background and Objective: Based on systematic literature reviews and a modeling analysis of harms and benefits, the USPSTF updated previously released recommendations on use of low-dose aspirin for prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD; 2009) and colorectal cancer (2007).
Adults aged 50–59 years with a 10-year risk ≥10% for CVD (myocardial infarction, stroke, or coronary heart disease death) can be offered low-dose (81 mg) aspirin use. (Grade B recommendation)
Adults aged 60–69 years with a 10-year CVD risk ≥10% can also be offered initiation of low-dose aspirin. (Grade C recommendation)
