The Prevention of Dementia by Intensive Vascular Care (preDIVA) trial was an open-label, randomized, controlled trial designed to investigate the effect of a nurse-led intervention to decrease cardiovascular risk factors in older adults. Primary outcomes included dementia incidence and disability scores. Secondary outcomes included incident cardiovascular disease (myocardial infarction, stroke, and peripheral artery disease) and mortality.
A total of 3526 participants (age, 70–78) free of dementia at baseline were recruited from 116 general practices in the Netherlands.
