Although many types of surgery (e.g., colorectal procedures, coronary artery bypass graft surgery) show an inverse relation between surgeon volume and morbidity, whether this relation also holds for gynecologic surgeries is unclear. In a review and meta-analysis of 14 reports (741,760 patients), investigators evaluated surgical volume and outcomes of various gynecologic surgeries. Low-volume surgeons (LVSs) were defined as those who performed the procedure in question ≤once monthly.
