Target Population: Neurologists, cardiologists, and other clinicians caring for patients with cryptogenic ischemic stroke and patent foramen ovale (PFO)

Background and Objective: PFO is identified in 40% to 50% of patients with ischemic stroke of unknown cause. It is also common in the general population (20%–25%), so establishing PFO as important or causal in ischemic stroke has been controversial.
