To gain insight into the comparative benefits of bivalirudin and heparin with or without additional glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors, researchers conducted MATRIX Antithrombin, a randomized, controlled trial involving 7213 patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention; 4010 patients had ST-segment elevation (STEACS), and 3203 did not (NSTEACS).
