Pilot studies of a mineral-based hemostatic powder (TC-325) have shown some success for upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). In a study of TC-325 for routine practice, investigators queried a prospective registry of 20 hospitals (64 endoscopists) in France. Selection of patients for primary treatment or salvage therapy was at the choice of the endoscopist. The powder was sprayed through an endoscopic catheter directly on the bleeding lesion. A total of 202 patients were treated in the setting of ulcers (37.1%), malignancy (30.2%), post-endoscopic therapy (17.3%), and other conditions (15.3%).
