Confidentiality is a critical component of adolescent healthcare, but many clinicians struggle with how to offer confidentiality in their practice settings. The University of Michigan Health System Adolescent Health Initiative used a state grant to help primary care practices become more adolescent friendly.
Twelve practice sites (family medicine, pediatrics, and medicine-pediatrics centers) participated in a Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part IV project that trained adolescent champion teams (composed of a physician, a health center manager, and other interested staff) in principles of organizational change and quality adolescent healthcare during three 2-hour sessions.
