Despite data showing effectiveness of Internet-based cognitive-behavioral therapy (iCBT) for adults with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), whether this modality would be effective for pediatric OCD has been little examined.
In this study, 67 adolescents (mean age, 15; range, 12–17) with comprehensively diagnosed OCD were randomized to either 12 weeks of iCBT or a waitlist (control). At baseline, depressive disorders occurred in 10%, and 78% were not receiving medications. The iCBT program consisted of three 4-week sections — education; exposure and response; and problem solving and relapse prevention.
