Sexually transmitted infection (STI) is the most common group of infections in the U.S., which has the highest incidence of these infections of industrialized countries. These authors hypothesized that the increasingly common practice of pubic hair grooming might contribute to the incidence of STIs. Using a national survey of randomly chosen participants 18 to 65 years old, based on postal address for representativeness, and carried out by one of the world's largest marketing companies, the researchers elicited answers to a questionnaire about grooming practices and STIs.
