Primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs), such as complement disorders and various forms of antibody deficiencies, are known to predispose affected individuals to infections with encapsulated pathogens, including Streptococcus pneumoniae (SP), Neisseria meningitidis (NM), Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG), Haemophilus influenzae (HI), and group A Streptococcus (GAS). However, patients with PIDs may not become symptomatic until adulthood.
