The FDA's 2014 warning about possible intraperitoneal dissemination of malignant cells as a consequence of power morcellation during minimally invasive hysterectomy or myomectomy has the potential to alter the practice of gynecologic surgery. In three retrospective studies, researchers sought to determine the impact of this warning on use of minimally invasive approaches (i.e., laparoscopic or vaginal with or without robotic assistance) for hysterectomy and myomectomy.
