Preterm birth (PTB) and low birth weight (LBW) are more prevalent among black women than all other racial and ethnic groups. Pregnancies conceived with assisted reproductive technologies (ART) are also at higher risk for PTB and LBW — however, it's unclear whether racial and ethnic minority women who conceive with ART are at higher risk for pregnancy complications than would be conferred by either race/ethnicity or ART alone. Using state-level surveillance of births and ART in Florida, Massachusetts, and Michigan, investigators sought to answer this question.
